I’m doing a website as a favour for a friend, and was wondering if I should take the plunge and use MODx for the first time?

It will be a very basic site, but he will need a form with the ability to upload files.

What’s the best Form add on?

MODx is probably your best bet because you can keep your xhtml code as is. No special tricks, no tweaks needed. But as with anything new, you styill need to do some reading to familiarize yourself. If you’re using Revolution, Formit is an excellent form addon. You won’t need to break your form for it to work. You’ll only need to specify the action and the fields that are required and voila!

      Good luck

If it’s your first time using MODx, I’d recommend using Evo (version 1.x). It’s a lot easier to follow how it works, and since it’s older, there’s a lot more documentation. You’d have to a little bit of looking for a form that allowed file uploads -- that’s dependent on your server too, not just on your software.

I’ve been using revolution to get the hang of setting up a basic site, but I haven’t really installed any add ons to provide functionality.

That’s why I’d like to try to use a form add on to try to take care of file submissions from users of the site.

I’ll have to check to make sure the web space allows uploading...I didn’t think of that thank you.

            Hi Zelky

On the example URL you provided, is the rolling news ticker done with Modx?
            Thanks
