User editing restrictions

Hi

I am developing a site to have a couple of subject blogs and have been trying to setup some users to only edit and create certain resources/documents, or resources/documents inside a container.

I have tried to follow a couple of tutorials but no success, does anybody know of way to achieve this?

Thanks, I managed to create a new policy in which the user was denied documents on root and several others so they can only post in the categories.
I was getting Access Policies & Policy Templates confused.
