/manager/ problem (with APC) in Revo 2.0.4

Hello!

I can’t access /manager/ with APC enabled.
Ubuntu 10.10 Server, Cherokee webserver ( http://www.cherokee-project.com/doc/cookbook_php.html ), PHP Version 5.3.3-1ubuntu9.1
APC installation instruction:

install php-pear
sudo pecl install apc-beta
install apt-file
apt-file update
apt-file search -x "/pcre.h$"
install libpcre3-dev
sudo pecl install apc-beta
nano /etc/php5/cgi/conf.d/apc.ini
apc.enabled=1

phpinfo() here:

Temp solution:

sudo nano /etc/php5/cgi/conf.d/apc.ini
apc.filters = "-/home/lorddaedra/www/elitar-consulting.ru/.*"
;here path to folder with modx

Question/request: please fix this problem in next modx release or tell me how to fix this if it’s only my server modx installation bug..

I can confirm that on Ubuntu 10.0.4.1 with PHP 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.5 with Suhosin-Patch (cli) (built: Sep 17 2010 13:49:46) and apc 3.1.4 ( and 3.1.3p1 tested also ) modx2’s manager interface does not load correctly. Only after adding apc_filter=modx2installdir ( which effectively disables cache for modx2 ) things work normally again.

Should we open a ticket ?

With APC or PHP? This is due to a bug in PHP or APC that has apparently been fixed in the most recent releases. I have APC 3.1.4 running perfectly here against PHP 5.3.3. The bug is with files that contain more than one class; it seems to lose track of the class definitions in such files.

This should be resolved for APC (and any other opcode caching system) in the upcoming 2.0.5 release. See https://github.com/modxcms/revolution/commit/18e311258a87cd3609a6e6adaa621af5281fe6f8 for the fix.

Our server-company offered us to change our system to APC-Cache, but they say it is not for sure that everything will work correctly after the change as before. They told us to ask in the forum if MODx works fine with APC-Cache.

Does anybody know this?

And is it an advantage to run MODx with APC-Cache?

It works on some currently, and should work in any environment with the next release (2.0.5), as my previous post implied. Some folks are currently experiencing bugs due to the session handler losing track of cached classes after exit() when using APC, but it seems to depend on specific versions or environment configurations. Until 2.0.5, you’ll just have to try it and see if it works in your environment. If it doesn’t you can simply disable it until you can get 2.0.5.

There is definitely an advantage to using APC, or another opcode caching system, as it keeps PHP from having to load the same class files over and over on every request. They get cached into memory for use by all requests, and this significantly increases the throughput of your site.

OK, we would now after upgrading to 2.0.5 change to APC-Cache except somebody has problems with APC-Cache in 2.0.5.

Therefore our question: Did anybody experience problems in 2.0.5 with APC-Cache?

I am sorry for not writing more exactly. I just were going to know if the improvements in 2.0.5 regarding APC-Cache were as expected very good.

If there were problems we would have waited to change to APC-Cache. But I think there are no problems and so we can switch to APC-Cache. Sorry for not writing more exactly and by the way thanks a lot for the new 2.0.5-upgrade...
