    Very interesting indeed. In fact after some review of this problem, it seems you can use utf8_bin as a general solution across languages, and I’m going to change the default for 2.0.5 to utf8_bin. We’ll also see about some kind of Extra or upgrade script for those that need to convert their collation to utf8_bin from utf8_general_ci. You can change it in phpmyadmin, but it has to be done in your MODx config file, on the database container, for each table, and for each column in each table that contains string content.

      Great, sounds like utf8_bin can prevent some other future problems too perhaps, with ppl create custom tables where they might set a text column as unique. It is so easy to use custom tables (almost too easy!) in Revo so there might be many of those.

      Lets just hope that utf8_bin isn’t going to cause any other problem! tongue

      I must say, after latest days working with converting a 5 year old Mambo installation to Revo I’m really really impressed. Almost no bugs, consistent and logical, everything just seem to work! I have never before created 50 lines of php code dealing with tables and get no errors on first run! tongue And all the new snippets are fantastic too, not that many, but each can be modified to do things that other systems would need 10 times more addons to do. Better with a few really good than thousands of half bad ones.

        This should do it (after changing the $targetCollation). It processes the DB and all tables and text fields.

        $targetCollation = 'utf8_bin';
