    Hello All,
Using Revo 2.04, I wanted to try FURL’s. I added .htaccess, turned on the settings in the Manager, and it was working nicely.

I decided to remove the ".html" suffix, and that’s where the trouble began. It’s different from Evo, but I managed to find the Content Type of HTML, and there was the suffix. I wanted to delete the suffix part.

I could not see how to just change that field. [I got confused with the new interface, and realized too late that one can click just on the single field to update.] I figured I could delete the Content Type. Big mistake - this gave me server errors (error code was 500) for every page. Even turning off FURL’s didn’t help. [Possibly important: the index of the Content Type field had changed from 1 to a higher number.]

I re-entered the HTML content type, but still had "500" errors. I finally found that by editing every page - each page was set to Content Type "1", and I chose "HTML" instead, and saved. This made the site work again, and was quite a relief.

But then I tried re-enabling FURL’s, and they won’t work at all, giving 404’s for everything. Any of you experts have an idea?

Could this be because FURL’s depend on the HTML Content Type having an index of 1? In which case maybe some database surgery might be needed? I couldn’t edit that field, because evidently one cannot edit the index field.

Update: I found one problem... some scripts default to Content Type "1", such as creating a document. So that becomes a problem if that’s changed for HTML.

    Any ideas much appreciated!
    Thanks

We should probably add some checks to make sure the default Content Types do not get deleted. You should restore the default HTML record with id 1 using phpmyadmin or similar.

        Jason,
Thanks for the good advice, I appreciate it. I may have been the very first person to make that nasty fumble.

I’m glad I was on the right track about fixing it. I successfully replicated and fixed the problem on my own test system. On the system in question I don’t have database admin privileges, but I handed them a query to run for me, so that should do the trick.

        Thanks again, Dave

Just starting ripping through my first install of Revo - Love it - thanks for all the hard work.

I too didn’t get that you get just double click on the extension to change it until I read this post.

Anyway to add a nice note to this.

Content types are specific filesystem types for your resources. Here you can manage them; as well as associate them with file extensions. Need to change an extension? Just double click on the extension field and change to your preferred setup.

I did have have phpmyadmin - so I was able to quickly change the id back to 1.
