Hi,
I’m trying to do a fresh install of 2.0.4 (Traditional) on:
Windows 2008 R2 server (64-bit)
PHP 5.2.14
pdo_mysql enabled - 5.0.51a
MySQL 5.1.49
But when I access the setup directory I keep getting this message:
Your MODX_CORE_PATH is invalid
I have entered the correct path but it just keeps reloading this page and resetting the path to "/core/", which is correct but doesn’t want to work.
I have tried inserting the full path including the drive letter. I have an install of Revo 2.0.0 running on the server so I know the server is capable of running MODx Revo but it was installed elsewhere and then moved to this server so this is the first time I have tried to do an install.
Any ideas?
Hi Jason,
It is running IIS7.5.
Does anyone have any ideas on this? The problem hasn’t gone away unfortunately.
Thanks for the reply.
I’m not sure what file you are referring to? I have just created a blank config.inc.php with write permissions granted in /core/config/config.inc.php.
It doesn’t seem to be permissions related as to test I granted write permissions to the entire site which made no difference and has now been revoked.
This is the full message I receive when I try to access /setup/
Your MODX_CORE_PATH is invalid
In order to install MODx Revolution, you must first locate your core directory that contains the files required to run MODx, including this setup application. The current value specified is not valid and setup cannot continue until this is resolved.
MODX_CORE_PATH <input field>
The input field has the contents: /core/
ERROR: Your MODX_CORE_PATH is invalid; please specify the correct path in the field above and click Submit.

Go to setup/includes/config.core.php and edit the MODX_CORE_PATH define.
Thanks Jason, that has worked, the install completed...but now the manager screen is showing as a blank white screen.
I’ve now edited all the paths in /core/config/config.inc.php and the manager is now coming up so all done!
Thanks for your help.
So to recap for others:
1. Change the path in /setup/includes/config.inc.php to include the full drive letter path to the MODx core.
2. Once the install has completed edit the paths in the /core/config/config.inc.php file so the paths there also included the drive letter.
