Not sure were this goes or if this has been reported but ...
install on 10.6 osx went smooth, however, install on hosted server was causing problems with Japanese input between revolution and server mysql.
Not sure what is causing the issue but I came up with a temporary solution.

install with Latin1 and the pre-selected Swedish what ever.

Strange but now I can use Japanese on my site.
choosing UTF-8 and Utf-8 unicode_ci only causes you headaches ...

Sounds like you installed specifying utf8 but you probably manually created the database with a latin1 collation. This will not work; you need to make sure that if you manually create the database, you create it with the same charset/collation as you specify in setup. Further, Revolution may not fully support charsets other than utf8, so I highly recommend using utf8.
