Site emails and system settings in modx revolution

First of all - I just want to say I’m an absolute noob with modx. Started using it yesterday, but I’m absolutely loving it. My hat goes off to all the people that have spent their time developing this CMS.

The Problem
The problem is, I cannot seem to work out how I get site emails to work.
I followed a tutorial to set up a blog here:
http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Creating+a+Blog+in+MODx+Revolution

Well, all of that went pretty swimmingly - the only problem is - I can’t seem to get the actual website to send an email when someone posts a comment - or someone replies to a comment. If you want to see an example blogpost, please click here:

Finally, I’ve attached a screenshot of the email settings. The people that host my website are eUKHost (if that helps anybody)

I really would appreciate any help with this.

Many thanks,

Nick

Turn mail_smtp_auth to Yes.

Firstly, thanks for such a quick reply it’s appreciated. I’ve already got Use SMTP set to Yes.

Is there any way I can test an email from modx, without having to reply to a blog?

It shouldn’t be too difficult to extract the mailing part and use it to create a test form/snippet combination to send mail when you submit. Or use FormIt with a minimal form.

Right, you’ve got Use SMTP set to Yes; but I said mail_smtp_auth, which is SMTP Auth - you’re specifying a username and password, but you’re not telling MODx to use that authentication via the mail_smtp_auth param.

Thanks for the reply Shaun. Well i just set the mail_smtp_auth param to Yes, but still no joy

ok, well I setup a very basic form with formit - and that seemed to email through ok, so it looks like there’s a problem with quip - as it doesn’t send me a notify email when someone comments. Nor does it send an email to the commenter.

Can you file that here? http://github.com/splittingred/Quip/issues/

Hi,

I’m very interested to this topic... I just installed rev. and it seems don’t works!

I’ve tried to allow / disallow use_smtp > Yes / No but nothing works.

Someone can help us?
