MODx Browsers shows all files

I want to show the system files in the system file browser next to the tab resources and elements
I want to show the image etc resources in the MODx browser when I insert an image and not all the system files:

After one day of trying different settings I now came to the point that I gave up.

Case 1:
File manager path : /home/user/domains/domain.com/public_html/
Resource path: /home/user/domains/domain.com/public_html/assets/resources/
Resource URL: assets/resources/
Result: All the files show in the files browser and in the MODx Browser so you have to go and look for the images directory and see all. This is NOT good when you would built a site for a "it wasn’t me-client".

Case 2:
File manager path : /home/user/domains/domain.com/public_html/
Resource path: /home/user/domains/domain.com/public_html/assets/resources/
Resource URL: -
Result: same outcome as 1

Case 3:
File manager path : /home/user/domains/domain.com/public_html/
Resource path: -
Resource URL: assets/resources/ also /assets/resources/ (to double check)
Result: same as 1 and 2

Case 4:
File manager path : /home/user/domains/domain.com/public_html/assets/resources/
Resource path: -
Resource URL: -
Result: shows the right resources directory for the images and media in the modx browser but now also for the file browser (of course)

Case 5:
File manager path : -
Resource path: /home/user/domains/domain.com/public_html/assets/resources/
Resource URL: -
Result: same as case 4...

Case 6:
File manager path : -
Resource path: -
Resource URL: -
Result: Shows all the system files in the file and the MODx browser

How can I make sure that when I insert an image I don’t get to see all the system files and have to browse.
Why like in case 2 can’t I set two paths???

When I Only fill in the resource Path the image thumb won’t show in the MODx Browser.

When I insert this file the url is wrong:

images/blabla.jpg

instead of assets/resources/images/blabla.jpg

MODx: 2.0.3-pl
Apache/2
mysql Client API version: 5.1.42
php:5.2.12
Database version:5.1.42-log

(Zend Engine:v2.2.0)
(PDO Driver for MySQL, client library version: 5.1.42)

Modzilla Firefox: 3.6.10

If so, you need to set filemanager_path and filemanager_url:

filemanager_path: assets/resources/
filemanager_url: assets/resources/

If modx isn’t installed at /home/user/domains/domain.com/public_html/, then set filemanager_path to /home/user/domains/domain.com/public_html/assets/resources/

Modx is indeed installed under: /home/user/domains/domain.com/public_html/

Using the paths that you gave makes me a bit more confused.

I thought That the file path should point to the root of the installation so you can work with the file browser like before in older modx versions.
I thought that the resource path was for the resource files like media, flash and images.

Using your settings makes the files browser only show the media resources.
Is this correct? Than it makes a lot clear to me. (but why have the resource paths then)

Evolution separated them into different directories. Revolution removes that convolution, and only allows one set path.

rb_base_dir and rb_base_url are still existent for backwards compatibility; they however are deprecated and will be removed in 2.1.

thanks, i have been battling with this as the documentation in the manager is then wrong, it states it must point to the base install path etc..

Ok I’m taking my first tentative steps into Revolution and have also run into confusion with the file system.

Say my setup was like this:

filemanager_path: assets/
filemanager_url: assets/

I have images in assets/images/, and files (pdfs, etc) in assets/files/

But trying to select an image via an image TV, I am able to access and view the contents of the files folder as well. I can actually select ’files’ and insert into the current image field. And vice versa, I can select images and insert into file TVs. That’s not ideal for my clients, I want to make it foolproof. I would rather them be limited to inserting only valid files/images into the relevant field.

Have I done something wrong or has something been missed here?

thank god for this thread I have spent hours trying various different combinations. The "help" messages under each setting are completely wrong.
