I can’t seem to install new packages using the package manager anymore. I am seeing error messages like this:

Principal 1 does not have access to requested object of class modCategory with primary key 7

with variations including modChunk, modSnippet, etc. I can see the snippets etc. associated with the package in phpmyadmin, but I don’t see them in the manager.

"Principal 1" appears to be the site admin user, which is how I’m logged in. As far as I know the admin and superuser permissions, roles, authority levels, etc. are all the same as they started, although I don’t really understand how those things work yet so I’m not sure I’d spot any differences. This is what my modx_access_context table looks like:
    [tt]1 web modUserGroup 0 9999 3
    2 mgr modUserGroup 1 0 2
    3 web modUserGroup 1 0 2
    4 mgr modUserGroup 1 9999 6
    5 mgr modUserGroup 2 0 2
    6 web modUserGroup 2 0 2[/tt]

The Administrator role has all the *_category permissions.

I haven’t set up any resource groups (and none appear in the database) so I don’t think that’s the issue. The only clue I have is that the stuff I can’t see in the manager all appears to be in category ’1’, while the stuff I can see has category ’0’. But I don’t see anything obviously wrong with the various tables related to categories and access.

I’ve been digging at this for hours. Can someone just point me in the right direction?

System details: Revo v2.0.0-pl rev7212, php5.2.11, traditional distro, linux server, MySQL v5.0.77.

Do you have any Category Access ACL entries? If so, that could explain your problem.

Were you able to access things in the past? If not, you could just have a corrupted file in the install.

The basic install has just two ACL entries. They should be the first two entries on the Context Access tab (hopefully, you haven’t modified them). If you want to go back to the basic setup, you can delete all ACL entries on all three tabs but those two.

If you’ve modified those two, let us know and we’ll show you what they should be.

Somehow I didn’t see your reply from the 7th – sorry for the late response. I managed to fix the problem in the interim; unfortunately I didn’t write down what I did and I can’t reconstruct it now. sad

No, I checked for those when I noticed that the problem seemed to be tied to categories. No restrictions were visible in the manager and modx_access_categories had zero rows.

Thanks – I assume you’re referring to the ACL entries for the Administrator user group? I do think that was related to the problem somehow, but alas, I don’t remember the details. Would probably be helpful to future Revo users to see the original install setup here.
