In the Resources I added for the "Menu Index" values like 10, 20, 30, 40... in case I have to add in the future a new Menu-Item between two existing Menu-Items.

But now MODx Revolution changed this values aumtomatically to 1,2,3,4... without any gap between the values. Is this a bug or a feature which is useful in other situations?

I am not sure what actions I did leading to this automatically sorting. Maybe I clicked meanwhile "Sort By: Resource Title" in the "Resource-Center" on the left site.

Does anybody know how to avoid this automatically sorting?

    Thanks a lot smiley

I think you don’t have to allocate menu index for future resources. Just add a new resource and use the drag-n-drop functionalty in the resource browser to set a resource’s position. Modx will manage the menu indices for you.

Thanks for your answer. I aimed to sort the resources in the manager alphabetically and in the menu by a different order. Do I understand correctly that this is not possible?

I’m afraid not. The menuindex is automatically regenerated whenever you change the Resource tree and always matches the tree.

You can use some other field for your custom order and tell Wayfinder to use that for the order of the menu.

You can also use the "sort" feature in the resource browser to change how resources are displayed within the tree.

Where can I find this feature?

Be aware that if you drag and drop any resources in the tree, it will change the menu indexes regardless of how the tree is sorted. I’m not sure if that’s intended or not.
