I have tried using wayfinder and also followed the ebook

When i create a chunk called - menuContainer

and i input code like this

    <ul[+wf.classes+]>[+wf.wrapper+]</ul>

and i then call it up in the template using this line
    [[Wayfinder? &startId=`0` &outerTpl=`menuContainer` &outerClass=`navigation`]]

All that i get output on the screen is this
    [+wf.wrapper+]

    instead of the menu.

The cause is that the tag syntax changed from [+placeholder+] in Evolution to
    [[+placeholder]] in Revolution

Could the developers not develop a script in the core which could convert changed tags when detected?
This will save many users who refer to older documentation and become frustrated when things don’t work out as shown, especially new users of the system. For example, i was using the ebook which is a recent release and could not figure out why my wayfinder was not working as shown in the ebook example, till i realised while posting my problem that actually i noticed somewhere that syntax had changed.

The developed plugin could detect during saving of documents, templates and chunks whether any of the older tags exists (is being used) in the item being saved. It could then convert such tags in the item to the newer tags and at the end of saving, display a mesage saying that

older tags were used and have been converted, please in future, use newer syntax tags for this version - and then provide a link to the documentation of the syntax tags changes - http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Tag+Syntax

This would greatly help new users by enhancing ease of use and all it takes is a script with a few functions
    - one that checks items being saved for syntax tags
    - one that converts any old syntax found into new syntax tags
    - one to output a screen mesage for the user once saving is complete
