Event Log usage

Does anyone know the current status of the event log? The table(event_log) and its supporting class(modEventLog) exist, the old MODx API is still present(logEvent) although marked as deprecated, as far as I can see its only used in the config_check_inc.php processor and there doesn’t seem to be any way in Revo to view it.

I was thinking of using this to log timed events from Janitor, in a similar way you can log in Windows and use its Event Viewer to see what’s been going on. A central facility like this would be useful, all 3PC’s could use this and add events by package name, so you could filter the output in a viewer. This would save everyone doing there own thing but if its going to die I’ll do something else.

You might want to look into the Registry system built into Revo.

Package Management and console clear use it specifically.

This seems a little over complex for what I want to do, which is just log that a timed event has fired and possibly what the outcome was. I don’t want to use the error log as these are not errors, just events. How can you see the contents of the registry? Users have to be able to see this somehow. I could just add tab to Janitor to view the event table as a log or I could create a Janitor event table and do the same if the MODx event log table is deprecated or I could view the registry itself I suppose.
