ReST/Logical Urls?

Is there a way to set up a site where I can use logical urls for my pages? I know modx does this already for regular content but I’d like to know if it’s possible to take one of my content pages and have it pass arguments straight through the URL.

say:

http://www.mydomain.com/album/1/view/full

instead of

http://www.mydomain.com/album?id=1&view=full

Provided you can do the logical url, how would you reference a the arguments in a snippet? Would a simple $_GET[’view’] work?

I’ve looked at the rewrite url rules in htaccess, but I’m a total noob when it comes to apache configurations.
