I am new to ModX and CMS’es in general. I am interested in setting up my single ModX Revolution install for multiple test sites. I do not have purchased domains for these sites setup on my hosting account (someone else is paying for the domains and hosting the domains themselves).
I tried following the tutorial from forum post
http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,42858.msg256335.html#msg256335, but the doman issue was throwing me off. When I would go to preview the page/site I would get www.mizpahbaptist.orgindex.php and of course nothing would load. I’m trying to test out porting my church’s existing site (mizpahbaptist.org) over to ModX (hard to do when don’t understand the CMS or what in the world I’m doing). The site is currently setup as individual html files and I’m using the ModX Sample Site to learn the tags, chunks, whatnots to hopefully help with the porting.
I have my hosting with GoDaddy.com. Can someone walk me through the setup without having domains? Someone mention something about virtual domains? Is that the same as setting Sub-Domains? Currently our church site is setup as a sub-domain of my hosting account domain brycotech.com (brycotech.com/mizpahbaptist/).
Once I get the test sites the way I want them (if that ever happens) I’ll install ModX for each domain and hopefully be able to transfer the test site to the new ModX install. GoDaddy allows 25 databases per hosting account so shouldn’t be a problem with multiple installs.
Any and all help would be appreciated.
