Been head scratching for some time here until I realised I need to set Safe Mode to off.
Suggestion: Have a Safe Mode check in the setup process that flashes a warning, rather than just have setup halt with a white screen and no error codes.

Related to this, the "safe mode off" requirement is a bit of a problem for some hosting providers. I’ve been using nearlyfreespeech.net for a few years for Modx Evolution installs with no problem. The "safe mode off" requirement for Revolution means that I have to use "PHP 5 Flex" server type instead of "PHP 5.3 Fast" - I’m told this makes everything much slower, but I can’t find any way around it. Is there any way around this?
