[Resolved] Cant login to modx manager from IE8

I could not login to modx/manager from office PC with IE8. After entering user name and password, it throws me back to login screen again.
Then I tried Chrome and it does let me login. I have no problem logging in from home PC, using both FF and IE8.


Then I looked up the url bar on chrome while at the login form and recognized it says

.../modx/manager/?a=30&id=3

where IE8 url bar says

.../modx/manager

So I pasted the Chrome url to IE8 and it works. I can login from IE8 if I add "?a=30@id=3".

Question: It appears something is not triggering with this installation of IE8. Any idea?

Do you have the session_cookie_domain setting set to anything specific or does this setting not exist in your installation?

session_cookie_domain does not exist in my installation.

I certainly can’t reproduce the problem so far, but if you could enter a JIRA bug report and provide as many details about your environment as possible, perhaps someone can identify the problem.

I’m having this same problem form any browser. When I use the IP address I can log in fine but the domain name just keeps going blank. Any ideas?

I had the same problem today and wasn’t able to login using ie8.

Then I remembered that I earlier today was changing some users passwords (not my own) - and I remembered that I used internet explorer for that.

So I just now tried to clear the cache and flush permissions and now it all works perfectly again.

Something peculiar is going in my case.
This only happens on one machine. I can access the modx manager from other machine, using IE8.
I also found that;

When I type "www.mydomain.net/modx/manager" the login page keep going back to login page. However,
If I type "mydomain.net/modx/manager" then I can login!

Honestly, I dont know where the problem lies.

I had a similar problem a while back and it had to do with the url I used when I installed it. It’s possible that if you installed ModX at: domain.net/modx then there are some settings that were implemented during install related to that path.

FYI, Upgrading to 2.04 seemed to have resolved this anomaly.

seems to be back with MODx Revolution 2.0.4-pl2, cause i have exact the same problems with ie and also firefox
