How to manage 2 differents menu in a single template

I’ve a start HTML page with 2 links.... each link need to open my MODX but with differents menu

In my modx portal I’ve :

Menu 1
Menu 2
Common Menu

Menu 1 and Menu 2 is set from a start page (and contain informations about the products type selected)
Common Menu is a standard menu (about, contacts, ....)

In manager area I’ve created my menus

Menu 1 (father) with all items (documents/pages)
Menu 2 (father) with all items (documents/pages)
Common menu (father) with all items (about document, contacts document....)

In my template I’ve to show:

Common Menu on the left side
Menu 1 OR Menu 2 on top area

I’ve created a start page with 2 links, now I want to open
with link1: CMS with Menu1+Common Menu
with link2: CMS with Menu2+Common Menu

Can you help me for find the best solution for this?

Maybe you’re over thinking this. Have you tried using a cookie.

Hi, what you trying to do doesn’t look hard, but I don’t fully understand it.

is that sth like that:

START_PAGE containg two links. Each one links you to the page with two menus. One menu is used in both pages. The second one differs. Why not create two pages with two different menus or add &option=1 or &option=2 to url and use getReqParam and If to differ the menus?

Excuse but I don’t know what do you mean exacly!!

Now I’ve 2 main item (in documents tree) and under each item the voices of each menu.

Can you help me?

Hi,

I assume:

1. your site_start is ID 1
2. First menu Item ID is 2
3. Second menu Item ID is 3

4. ON ID 1 you have two links: one leading to ID 2 and second one to ID 3

5. You want to differ menu startId on ID 2 and ID 3

What you need to do is call wayfinder in, for example, this way page ID 2 and ID 3:

[[!Wayfinder? &startId=`[[*id]]` &level=`1`]]

The default startId should be current docid so you may ommit this one.

If you want to have this menu inresources from your resource tree you may explicitly set startId to ID 2 or ID 3, and then in elements in ID 2 you will have:

[[!Wayfinder? &startId=`2` &level=`1`]]

and in ID 3

[[!Wayfinder? &startId=`3` &level=`1`]]

Is that what you want?

If you don’t want to use a different call for each of the other menus, you can use ultimateparent snippet, so

For the common menu use:
[[!Wayfinder? &startId=`0` &level=`1` ]]

and for the other menu use
[[!Wayfinder? &startId=`[[UltimateParent]]`]]

Don’t forget to install UltimateParent

Now for the landing page link to the first child of each of the menus, not the container itself.

using
http://www.domain.com/index.php?id=2
and
http://www.domain.com/index.php?id=3

work... and it’s what I’ve done in last days but my problem is that if I select and item of the menu that I show, for example, with:

http://www.domain.com/index.php?id=2

I open a new page named

http://www.domain.com/index.php?id=XX

where id XX is the name of the selected document and without menu!!!!! because now wayfinder can’t find startid

how can I keep my 2 menu (2 or 3) when I select items of menu 2 or 3?
