multiple domains/contexts

I’ve setup everything and contexts are working fine in any other aspect - only my resource browser is ignoring the context settings for rb_base_url and rb_base_dir, it uses the web context even when editing documents under another context.

Thanks for the help Bob. I’ve tested in another browser, cleared the site cache, changed the settings values just to see if it made a difference. I know rb_base_url and rb_base_dir are configured correctly in the context I created because they even show the settings descriptions that are imported automatically from the global settings.

One thing, I have a warning on the error log every time I use tinyMCE:

(ERROR @ /usr/www/users/xxxxxx/cms/core/components/tinymce/tinymce.class.php : 204) PHP warning: json_encode() expects exactly 1 parameter, 2 given

I’ll see if I can get a new tinyMCE package, but I don’t think this is related to the context problem.

That sounds like a bug and I don’t see it in Jira, so it would be good if you’d report it.

I think there’s a new version of TinyMCE that might fix it, but I’m not sure. Try that first.

Some of the mystery I figured out. It looks like there are a few things to address here.

Because of my limited time-line I decided to stick to the root dir right now until I have completed development of a multi-domain system, and then migrate the contexts out to their own sub-dirs after I had them working without error from the root dir. It takes a lot of the potential confounds out of tracking down specific issues.

the first issue I’ve come across (for which I’ve submitted a bug report) is that the upload button appears to only upload to the base dir. You can’t nest folders inside of, for example, the images folder and then use the upload button to upload files to them. The files just end up in the base dir. The only way to send files directly to the subdir is to right-click on it and then select upload file.

Meanwhile, putting that aside, I’m not having the problems with paths being messed up in tinymce when I try to link to images/files/etc anymore. I did update to the most recent mce and edited the rb_****** settings to reflect accuracy. So as long as I’m using the single gateway system (not with the plugin but rather with the same functionality in the index.php file as stated above in an earlier post) then the system is working quite well.

Will keep you posted about the subdirs, as I’m getting close to complete.

For uploading, try right-clicking on the folder you want to upload to.

And, chrismed, I agree with you, revolution is great! It is probably going to, finally, bring order to a bunch of websites that I manage as a group (all from the same network). Currently I’m using a custom built CMS, but the code is growing fast and becoming a mess to manage. As far as I know, modx is the most customizable open source CMS out there, a fantastic blend of CMS and PHP framework.

FYI -- after uploading the files to the root, I think you can now drag them to where you want them, though I haven’t tried it.

You could also set a user setting for filemanager_path with the path to the directory you want, if that would help -- then that would be the effective "root" where the files get uploaded (at least in theory).
