Does Modx have a built in unique id for each visitor that is not logged in.
The brief is to create a notepad type system where a visitor will browse the site and along the way click a button that adds that particular product to a notepad. The notepad will be on the right hand side of the site the whole time and as they add things, they will visually be added to the list.
My client doesn’t want all visitors to have to sign up to get this feature. The client is aware and ok with the fact that the notepad will probably be erased if the visitor navigates away from the site.
I have basic understanding of php and I think cookies is probably the best way to do this????? The client is also aware if people have cookies off the feature won’t be there.
I have been looking at the $_SESSION info and I think it is what I need to be using, but is it only for signed in visitors?
If $_SESSION is the way to go, how would I go about this and do I have to add something to all my pages to keep the session alive?
