css Path and css selector

I didn’t find anything in the development notes or JIRA on this so I hope this isn’t a repost. I didn’t know if this issue fell under the TinyMCE area or here.

In the system settings, I know that in EVO I was able to specify certain css styles that I wanted available in TinyMCE by putting in the following string in the editor_css_selectors along with specifying the path to the CSS File.


Now when I do the same in REVO, every style that I have in the CSS file shows, rather than just the few that I specify in the editor_css_selectors field. I’ve tried just filling out the editor_css_selectors field and not the editor_css_path, but then nothing shows in the style menu at all.

So I just found out that there are two places where you can specify css selectors.

There’s the editor_css_selectors in the core settings, but what you really want is the tiny.css_selctors field in the TinyMCE settings.

Be sure to filter your system settings to just the TinyMCE settings to avoid having the same problem that I was having where every style from the stylesheet showed up in the styles menu of TinyMCE

Thanks for your help.

It took me a while to figure out the Systems Settings interface in Revo. I didn’t realize you have to double click on the empty space under the ’Value’ column to edit it! Instead I created a new setting which would have had no effect at all.

Just to help anyone else out, here’s what I did:

1. Go to System > System Settings
2. Go to the drop down menus to the right of the ’Create New Setting’ button. These should be: ’Filter by area’, ’core’ and ’Search by key’.
3. Select ’TinyMCE’ from the second drop down menu. (The default value is ’core’)
4. You should now see settings relating to the TinyMCE plugin
5. Find the setting named ’CSS Selector’
6. Double click on the empty space in the ’Value’ column to edit it
7. Now enter the CSS selectors you want to include in the ’Styles’ drop down in your TinyMCE editor. The syntax should be:
