This is not a bug in MODX Revolution, but I’m posting this here for others to find if they run into the same issue I had.
Problem: When using Modx Revolution with Firefox (tested in 3.6 and 4.0 Beta 2) on Windows XP, the Manager runs very slow. Dropdown menus lag far behind mouse movements, also addons such as TinyMCE editor run noticeably slow.
Solution: The problem may be related to your video card’s hardware acceleration. Try reducing the hardware acceleration by one notch (or more if needed). This is related to a problem with an ATI video card driver, but may also affect Nvidia cards as well. The solution was suggested via a
thread on Mozilla forums dealing with Flash running slow.
In my tested environment this solution fixed the slow operation of the Modx Revolution manager in Firefox.
