Resource Explorer not showing up

Not sure why, but I’m unable to get to the Resources, Elements, Files viewer/module on the left within admin. I’ve tried IE 8 and
Firefox 3.5.11. Been using it the last few days and now it’s not showing up.

FYI - I’m fairly new to Modx.

Has anyone experienced this? It’s extremely frustrating. I’ve tried on two different computers: IE & Firefox. Only one of them works in IE. Originally, none of them worked, but I rebooted the machine and it worked in IE. Now I’m afraid to shut it down in fear I can’t get it back.

I’m having this exact same problem with a client. I’ve done quite a few Revo sites but for some reason this client has this exact problem. I’ve tried EVERYTHING to resolve this and can’t figure it out. The client is somewhat computer illiterate and over 3000 km’s away, so providing a detailed report for debugging purposes would be difficult. They are running a fully updated XP Pro with the most recent IE8 and FF3. No luck. I’ve tried with their anti virus/security on/off, etc. everything I can think of. I’m desperate for help on this issue.

Has there been any more info or resolution on this issue?

I have had this problem when using domainame.com instead of www.domainname.com to access the manager.

We have to know as much as possible in order to assist (all information can be accessed from within the manager interface under Reports --> System Info), including exactly which distribution of MODx Revolution is installed.

Not sure why Revo Manager freaks out about not having the www when using friendly url’s and the stock .htaccess files, but at least now I know for future Revo installs.

In the manager, two js files are loaded via connectors:


I have found that if the domain in the address bar does not match the domain in these calls, then nothing is returned and the resource browser does not show up.

I’m assuming that the connectors are initiating a session to make sure the user is logged in, and a session cookie is not found if the domains don’t match. This could happen if running the manager from a separate subdomain or just by adding/removing the www.

This is a bug then, as all the requests should respect the HTTP_HOST from the original request. FWIW, you can work around this by setting session_cookie_domain to the value ".domain.tld" which will then make the session valid for all subdomains.

Has anyone filed a bug request that I could add information to?
