Turn "modx-navbar" off

Hi folks,

how can I turn the "modx-navbar" (the Manager menu) completly off? I don’t want any user to see the menu - only the resources tab shall be visible. With FC (Form Customization) I can modify many things. Is it also good for this task? I could not figure out how to use it for that.

OK played with this a while back, If i remeber rightly you need to assign Permissions to each menu via the System->Actions then right click on the menu items in the right column and chose update menu.

Then you need to goto Security->access controls -> access policies

And assign each permission name to each group that is allowed to access it.

I did this by copying the admin one and creating a sub admin then adding the permissions to the main admin policy so that the main admin could see them but the subs couldn’t.

Then you need to assign this new access policy to your contexts see bob rays guide for this I can’t remember that bit off the top of my head and I’m not at home to look it up on my dev server sorry. http://bobsguides.com/MODx.html

This was done on an early beta system and some of the steps may have changed but hopfully this will give you enough to go on.

It is quite simple to turn the main navigation off, once you figured it out:
1. Call SYSTEM | ACTIONS
2. In the right column TOP MENU you can see the entries of the main menu (SITE, SECURITY, TOOLS, ... SUPPORT)
3. Right-click on e.g. SITE and choose UPDATE MENU
4. In the following screen enter a permission into the field PERMISSION which normaly only an admin should have, like "settings". Now the menu SITE is only visible for a user that has the permisson "settings" within his ACCESS POLICY (SECURITY | ACCESS CONTROLS | ACCESS POLICIES). For a user without this permission the menu is not visible.
5. Repeat step 3. and 4. for other menu entries (or submenu entries).
