I tried to install Revo. Made sure that there isn’t mysql v 5.0.51 running on the server, but received the following error prompt and the installation aborted:
Checking MySQL server version: OK! Running: 5.1.30-2
Checking MySQL client version: Failed!
MODx will have issues on your MySQL version (5.0.51a), because of the many bugs related to the PDO drivers on this version. Please upgrade MySQL to patch these problems. Even if you choose not to use MODx, it is recommended you upgrade to this version for the security and stability of your own website.
What’s wrong?
Your MySQL client is still running 5.0.51a. You’ll need to recompile PHP with the newer MySQL drivers.

The PHP you’re using has the older 5.0.51a client compiled into it. When PHP is compiled, it’s told where to go get the MySQL libraries to build in the client. If it’s compiled against the 5.0.51a version, then that’s the client it will have. So at some point the host upgraded their MySQL (probably because of the complaints about it being so buggy), but never got around to upgrading or recompiling the PHP to go with it.
The best solution would be to get your host to either upgrade or at least recompile their PHP to have a client to match their server. It will work with a mismatch, but of course it’s better not to risk the chance of things not working.
If that’s not an option, you can disable that version check; MODx will probably work just fine with the later MySQL server version and the mismatched client.

I’ve done this once...and it brought me great trouble. Really weird, unexplainable things...some core features
just not working right.
Just as a heads up, if anything doesn’t function as you’d expect...remember that you’re running a wrong client
