Why not trying a Linux OS, I would recommend Ubuntu, it is free, stable, fast and pretty secure.

I couldn’t work without PhotoShop either... but I have seen tons of videos working PhotoShop on Ubuntu with no problem (Portable Edition).
But I must confess that I still use Windows, and that is just for the adobe products, for everything else, Linux.

A couple of years back, I tried to use Ubuntu for web development. I had 3 flavors of Ubuntu installed but always had some issues + the photoshop problem. I hack too much for IE, I don’t need other thing to hack and get frustrated about.

PS: I always have an eye on Ubuntu as an alternative OS

I know this thread is pretty old but maybe my experience can help.
You have to tell Comodo that those files are secure, or just to bypass them when scanning, there's an "exclusion" menù somewhere in the antivirus settings. I set as exclusion both the zip and the folder where I want to extract it before actually extracting it.
Comodo can also create problems when setting up a local testing server. Again you have to tell it that your apache and mysql server are safe applications. I found these rules under defense+ -> HIPS -> HIPS rules (select the application and set it to trusted).
Note: my Comodo is in Italian, I just translated the menus that can actually be different, get the juice!
No need to get a mac.
