Installation/Database Connection Problem?

I am having trouble with the installation of modX Revolution, (and I am hoping I have posted this on the correct forum this time). Here are the specifics:

Platform

* Linux

MySQL

* Server: Localhost via UNIX socket
* Server version: 5.1.47-community-log
* Protocol version: 10
* User: filmjack@localhost
* MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)

Web server

* cpaneld
* MySQL client version: 5.1.47
* PHP extension: mysql

phpMyAdmin

* Version information: 3.2.4

I have created an SQL database named modx (entirely blank) and I can only get this far... I also tried deleting the database and allowing the installation to create it, but wind up at the same spot. I have this screen, but cannot go further.



Any and all help is appreciated!

I think I will be better off just installing the Evolution version since I am getting nowhere with this one. >:(

After messing with modx Revolution for a number of hours, I looked at the database again. Although I added a database named "modx" the host server uses prefixes. Once I added the prefixes to the database name and database prefix, the installation went through perfectly.

Maybe this will help someone else...

The MODx database prefix is just for internal MODx use; it can be anything you want. It is used a prefix to the table names so you won’t risk getting the tables mixed up if you install other apps using the same database. The prefix your control panel adds to the database name you specified when creating the database is another matter altogether; the full database name must be used. Two different things. (not that it hurts anything if you do use it for the MODx database prefix)
