preferred version of mysql for revolution 2.0.0-rc-2

Hi all,
my webspace is working with mysql version 5.0.51.a, which is not working for known reasons.

I called my provider and they said they can move my webspace to another server with different mysql and they want to know which version i would like to have. They are offering different flavors of 5.0.x, also older versions. When i asked about 5.1.x they said it’s also possible, but they offer 5.1 only on special request, since there seem to be problems, but they’ll gladly do it.

I have no clues about different mysql versions except that i like it working. So can you guys give me some version numbers, preferably several? Or do i just tell them, give me the newest shiniest 5.1.48, that will work fine?

So, to sum up: what is the preferred version of mysql for revolution 2.0.0-rc-2?

I’d go for the latest, I’m using 5.1.47(client) on my two dev boxes and its fine.

My provider is now downgrading me to version 4.1.22.
(they initially promised me a 5.1, but then they noticed that they mistook php 5.1 for mysql 5.1, which kinda makes you wonder... but it’s all humans, isn’t it)
Will there be any problems in the future when they upgrade my 4.1.22 database to 5.1?

I’d run away as quickly as possible tbh. There is no way they should be downgrading you to 4.x MySQL. I recommend not even considering a host unless they have a release of MySQL available >= 5.0.x (excluding 5.0.51).
