installation of gallery package fails

Hello
I’m trying to install the gallery package - however, the installation fails - always telling me that the directory is not writable - this happens in either case whether I create the gallery directory upfront and set it all to writable or not.

Hope somebody can tell me what I’m doing wrong:

Looks like your server is on Windows of some kind. Have you tried setting permissions to "full control", not just writable? The NTFS file permissions are pretty complex, you need to enable more than just write access to be allowed to set permissions. Also, does the webserver run as your user, or under a special server account?

I’m on OSX with Mamp

I assume you already tried making the requested folders up front and setting them to world writeable (777)?

Just guessing, don’t know Mac OS much. But does Apache run under your own user account, or does it have another account? If it does not run as the owner user, you might still have problems.

MAMP is a stand-alone version of apache, mysql and php that has nothing to do with the built-in OS X server applications. I’ve never had permissions problems with MAMP, since I install it as my usual desktop user. When I was using XAMPP, though, it was always having permission problems.
