    Hello,

    INSTALL: Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, IIS 7.5, MODx Revolution 2.0.2-pl
    WEBSITE: http://development.frpadvisory.com

    I’m new to Revolution. I’ve managed to install all the necessary files (MODx Revolution 2.0.2-pl) and build a development website. The website can be viewed on the localhost and externally. The problem is that when I try and log into the manager externally it just refreshes the login page and removes the username and password I’ve entered. The login page works correctly on localhost.

    1. I’ve checked BOB’s guide in regards to "three deprecated system settings that need to be deleted from the modx_system_settings table", but this doesn’t seem to relate to brand new installs of Revolution. http://bobsguides.com/modx-installation-faq.html

    2. I’ve also had a look at http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=35112.0, but this hasn’t solved the problem, as the server sessions seem to be working correctly. (I checked if sessions were working correctly on the server by creating 2 test pages below)
    ------
    http://development.frpadvisory.com/page1.php
    <?php
    // page1.php
    session_start();
    echo ’Welcome to page #1’;
    $_SESSION[’favcolor’] = ’green’;
    $_SESSION[’animal’] = ’cat’;
    $_SESSION[’time’] = time();
    // Works if session cookie was accepted
    echo ’
    <a href="page2.php">page 2</a>’;
    // Or maybe pass along the session id, if needed
    echo ’
    <a href="page2.php?’ . SID . ’">page 2</a>’;
    ?>
    -------
    http://development.frpadvisory.com/page2.php
    <?php
    // page2.php
    session_start();
    echo ’Welcome to page #2
    ’;
    echo $_SESSION[’favcolor’]; // green
    echo $_SESSION[’animal’]; // cat
    echo date(’Y m d H:i:s’, $_SESSION[’time’]);
    // You may want to use SID here, like we did in page1.php
    echo ’
    <a href="page1.php">page 1</a>’;
    ?>
    ------

    can anyone help?

      I’ve managed to finally sort this issue. You need to check that IIS isn’t referring you to a sub folder of the default host header when you try and log into the manager. I figured this out using the ’forgot password’ activation email. The Activation Link within the activation email read "http://test.frpadvisory.com/testfolder/manager/" when I was trying to log into the manager using "http://test.frpadvisory.com/manager/". Once I moved the ’test.frpadvisory.com’ binding to the default host header, I could log in externally using the link ’http://test.frpadvisory.com/testfolder/manager/’.

      I didn’t have the login problem on our live server as ’http://localhost/’ is disabled on that server.

      Hope that helps
