What is XPDO?

Hi. I have just had xPDO recommended to me for a project that requires a lot of technical product info being content managed in tables. I have visited the main xPDO page but I don’t understand what it does and how to use. Can anyone point me in the direction of some dumbed down explanations and maybe tutorials to get me going. I have managed to get my head round MODX without too many problems thanks to some amazing tutorials from the community but I am struggling getting my head around "Object/Relational Bridge Framework for PDO". I plan on using Revolution for this project if this helps.

This is my first outing with xPDO and I found it quite challenging to begin with. Once you’ve sussed creating the model files though you should be well on your way.

This page kind of sneaks up on xPDO. Most of the methods described here are xPDO methods, even though they’re accessed through the $modx object (which extends the xPDO object).
