    Hi There,

I’m looking for information on how to customize the manager - like removing/swapping tabs and organizing TVs etc.

    Is this possible?

    Cheers

The quick answer is to use the Security | Form Customization feature.

      You’ll find some help here:

      http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/revolution/Form+Customization

And by Googling for a few examples.

Fantastic - thanks for that. It really helps to know the correct term to search!

This looks really powerful but also fairly daunting for a designer -it’s hard to make sense of this compared with ManagerManager.

As an example, lets say I would like all my custom TVs to appear where "Resource Content" currently appears - and with the same behavior i.e. they always appear if the top details are hidden etc.

Firstly, I’d need to hide the built-in content resource?

          Rule Actions
Is there are list of what all the rule actions are and what they do? My first uninformed guess was to go for "core-browser" (as I’d like to affect the main browser window) but then tried "core-resource" because the form I’d like to change is the create/edit resource page?

          TV Name
After searching, I couldn’t find a list of field names for Revolution (I’m sure I’ve seen one) so guessed with "tvreseourcecontent" as this is the name as it appears in manager.

          Containing Panel
Same as above, not sure how to find the IDs of specific panels.

          Rule Value
I chose "Field Visible" as the rule and put "0" as the value which I think is correct. Also, is it possible to change a rule once it’s been made - is this possible?

Sorry if this is all easy, it’s just a bit hard to get your head around the steps necessary to perform a complete operation from separate wiki entries - especially if you’re not a developer.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

          Cheers

I don’t think this can be achieved with the current features of Form Customization.

I’m not sure if I understood all of your other questions, but I can answer by saying that in my experience the Form Customization features are still a little bit buggy (now using Revo RC-2). You’re right that it’s also not very well documented and the current methods make it had to figure out the tab IDs (you can always look at the raw tables and try to watch what the manager is doing with a console in Firefox or Chrome).

One thing that works fairly well is the categories feature to automatically sort your TVs.

Right; it’s a bit more complex than MgrMgr because this allows you to do rules to *any* action (in other words, manager page). So it’s more complex by necessity.

This can only be done in Revo SVN currently, but will be available for RC-3. It was an oversight and should have been in RC-2.

Firstly, I’d need to hide the built-in content resource?
http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/revolution/FC-Resource - see the bottom of the page.

Each ’action’ represents a manager page. There isn’t a documented list yet, but there will be eventually.

The one you want is ’resource/create’ and ’resource/update’ (create for new Resources, update for editing existing ones - TV rules apply to both automatically).

              Correct on both accounts.

This will be documented much more post RC-3.

Have the actions been documented yet? I’m working on customising a static resource form and am curious which manager page the ’resource/staticresource/create’ & ’resource/staticresource/update’ actions relate to.

I’d like to apply the customisation only to the static resource form and not to other forms.

Then use those two actions. tongue

Thanks for the quick reply. I did try those actions but no luck.

                    My settings are:
                    Action: core resource/staticresource/create
                    Field: hidemenu
                    Containing panel: modx-panel-resource
                    Rule: Field Visible
                    Value: 0

When I load the static resource form the field is visible. If I change the action to resource/create it is hidden.

I’m new to MODx and may be missing something here but I can repeat this on any of the available resource fields.

                      Hrm.

                      Try adding a constraint:

                      Class: modResource
                      Field: class_key
                      Value: modStaticResource
