Hi, I’m just wondering if there is a timeline for this. There are a number of tasks that were fairly straight forward in evolution that are non-obvious without this documentation. What brought me their in the first place was trying to work out how to create a resource group that was only available to people with a role of members.
The access policies and permissions seem particularly confusing. Is there a tutorial on how to set up a few basic use scenarios, like visible to all users, visible to all logged in users, editable by users with a role of editor or above, etc.?
I try to work as much of this out for myself as I can, but MODx 2 seems more clever than I am.

Thanks Bob, that was helpful. The system does seem a little over-complicated for simple sites, but flexible.
It’s a little hard to grasp at first, but once you get it, it’s not all that complex.
It helps to understand that there are really four different parts to it.
- Which resources users can see and what they can do with them is controlled by ACL entries.
- Visibility of the Elements tab and Files tab is controlled by specific permissions (element_tree, file_tree).
- Visibility and organization of the Top Menu is controlled in Manager | Actions.
- Which fields show up in specific forms (e.g. the Create/Edit Resource panel) for particular users is controlled in Security | Form Customization.
