As a happy Evo user, I decided to take the plunge and try to build a site using Revo RC1. The core system has worked great for me so far, but TinyMCE is doing weird stuff. At first, it was littering my content code with mce_ tags. I figured out that cleanup was disabled (I thought it was usually enabled by default), but now cleanup does things like sticking br tags in between li’s in lists and between paragraphs, too. That was in Firefox. If I use IE8 or Chrome, the extra br’s go away, but all intentional br tags are also removed.
Are these known bugs, or do I have something else going on?

Ok... discovered that I was running TinyMCE 3.2.7.0-rc3 in Revo 2.0.0-rc-1, but the package description says it’s for Revo 2.0.0-rc-2.
After downgrading to TinyMCE 3.2.7.0-rc2, cleanup no longer works at all.
I’d really appreciate any suggestions about what to try next.

I get the same bugs and other annoying stuff as well. When using the "Paste as Plain Text" button, it converts new lines to paragraphs. It adds extra breaks for no reason as well as the weird mce_ tags. You can’t nest block elements, and it’s hard to tell what’s going on in the background without viewing source (which is no problem for us developers, but the whole point of a WYSWYG is for end users). I’ve typed in some a couple of lines of text at times and then viewed source only to find a bunch of empty paragraph tags and break tags. For someone who doesn’t know html, there is not way to delete these empty paragraph / br tags.
I’m hoping CKEditor will come back at some point. It’s better in every way except for one advantage that TinyMCE has which is that it now supports adding classes to elements via the styles drop-down. One way or another, I think that the ModX team is going to make sure we have a good, stable and correctly functioning RTE before the GA release. Until then, I don’t think that there’s a whole lot that can be done except check JIRA regularly to see when changes/bug fixes have been implemented.

Other that the RTE bugs, I really like what they’ve done with Revo. After playing with output filters and property sets, I really don’t want to go back.
Hope to see the GA version soon.
