I have a local version of site I’m building at it works fine when I generate .RSS and .CSS files, setting the Content Type to the right type. However, on a remote version of the site which is being used by my client for testing MODx is doing 2 weird things:
    1. Sometimes when I view the Document Type of a Document it has been reset back to HTML.
    2. All files created contain the following around my code therefore causing the files to be invalid markup....

    <***** MY CONTENT ******/>

The only time it doesn’t do this is if I make the Resource Content empty, which suggests that as soon as it sees any Resource Content it tags it in HTML doctypes and body tags.

Has anyone else had similar problems? I’m on ModX Revolution 2.0.0-pl rev7212

    Thanks in advance.

    Chris

I could do that but it works fine on my local test site but not on the live server test site. Both running same version and having had clean seperate installs. I’ll give it a try though. Thanks.

I’ve updated both installs to 2.0.2 but still have the same problem :-( Anyone got any ideas at all??? It’s just shoving an HTML doctype and html & body tags around any css, rss, js etc content types that I’ve inputted some resource content for. I’m at my wits end!!

I’ve tried absolutely everything I can think of now :-( Does anyone have any ideas on this? Otherwise I think I’m going to have to rebuild the whole project again in a fresh install of modx.

Some FTP software doesn’t overwrite existing files by default so if you transferred the 1.0.2 files with FTP, you may have some files that are from the previous version. This could also happen if some directories aren’t writable.

                Hi Bob,
Thanks for the reply. I really don’t think it was anything to do with the upgrade though as the problem was there when both local & live versions were running on version 2.0 as well. The only thing I can try now is doing a fresh install I guess and hope that it solves the problem. Here’s another test file I tried generating RSS from. First version is local and 2nd is live. Local works absolutely fine. The weird thing is that not only does the live version put in an HTML DOCTYPE, html & body tags but it also appears to be missing out the closing LINK tag.... and all the tags are uppercase as opposed to lower case on the local version. The code I’m using is a free RSS script from http://www.weareakta.com/blog/modx/modx-tutorial-rssgen

On my local server it comes out fine as:

RSS feed test

A news test feed

Press releases

Press releases

                And the live version...

RSS feed test

http://link.com

A news test feed

Never heard of anything like this. Are you sure this isn’t something to do with your hosting service?
