I was referring to the "empty" default template that Evo gets installed with if you don’t install the demo content (it only has [*content*] in it), as well as specifying "none" in a resource’s Uses Template field.

Not allowing a template that has no content to be saved would cramp my development style, which is "start something, realize you forgot what you wanted to put in it, save it empty and go find what you wanted to put in it" rolleyes rolleyes

Empty to me says "void of any content", including MODx [*content*] tags. Sorry if I misunderstood.

As far as not allowing complete empty Templates, put a comment in it then; but it should be validated to have content IMO -- otherwise, people could get confused when nothing is rendered by a template with nothing in it even though they had something in their Resource content. Assigning no template (the empty) to a Resource should be sufficient, otherwise, you need a Template with at least something to render.

Maybe it can be renamed so "just content" or something similar.
If I need an empty template I can always create one.
