Manager: document resource alias can't be set

Another thought... are you using an RTE when this occurs? IOW, does it only occur if CKEditor or TinyMCE is enabled?

the only things i’ve installed are wayfinder, breadcrumbs and google.

But on the re-install of modx 2 rc1 advanced I didn’t install any packages so that can’t be it, when there aren’t any packages . The only thing I did after the install of the advanced package, is set the document resource alias and I did set the friendly urls on.

By default no editor is used am I correct? Atleast I don’t see any editor, and I prefer it that way. So I think the editors can’t be the problem aswell

I also had 1 crazy thought, could it be the extraction program? I did use 7-zip, never had any problems with it before and it didn’t gave any problems during the extraction. But with several downloads and the 2 versions I get the same problem each time.

RTE == Rich-Text Editor
I hate them as well, they are pure evil IMO, but I am just trying to narrow this down so we can isolate the problem and get it fixed.

I doubt it; I use and recommend 7-zip anytime I’m working on a Windows platform myself. It’s more likely related to a browser issue, a build problem, or an incompatibility with something specific in your server environment. Unfortunately, until I can reproduce it...

Because nobody else can reproduce it, the only thing I can think of is that it’s a server isue. I’ve tried several browsers (Firefox, Opera, Safari, Internet Explorer) and all gave the same problem.
With firebug I also checked if the posts contained the right keys and values and that also looked correct.

Tonight or tomorow morning I will install the modx version on my local computer instead of my server.
When I know more, I will let you know!

OpenGeek, do you know what script is called? Maybe I can take a look in there.

I found one of the causes of this problem. My trouble might be caused the bug of iconv function.

When friendly_alias_translit is not specified, MODx uses iconv. But, formar PHP does not handle "//IGNORE" option correctly.
I rewrote the code of line 306 in modResource(rev.6586) experimentally and succeeded to store the alias field.

Add next system settings if you not need to translit the ailases:
key : friendly_alias_translit
value : "none"

As indicated by the PHP team, this is a platform issue, not a PHP issue. I don’t want to limit the behavior to workaround bugs at the platform level. Just don’t use the built-in iconv transliteration in environments with this problem, as you suggest.

You can use the included or your own transliteration tables in these cases.

I see. I’ll try to find another way to transliteration when I need it.
