I was wondering in both in Evo and Revo whether you can create a custom url structure from the content?
For example if I have an ecomm that separates its products by category and sub cat then i would want to see this :

    mysite.com/electronics/dvdPlayer/sonyBadAss-A1

    Is this possible?

      Hi,
Yes, in Evo you go to:

      Tools... Configuration... Friendly URL’s....

From there you can turn on "use friendly URL’s", and the key for your paths will be to set both of these to YES:

Use Friendly URL aliases, Use Friendly URL alias path

For the latter, you’ll most likely need a base URL in the head section of your templates. This sort of thing:
      <base href="[(site_url)]"></base>

You’ll also need to adjust your .htaccess file for FURL’s. In the root of a new MODx site, there is an example .htaccess file you can edit to taste, with some FURL instructions.

So this makes your URL’s look like you have folders that replicate your document structure, even though it’s all done via server commands.

      Cheers, Dave

          Great!
I don’t usually use the alias paths, so I’ve found I can get away without setting Base Href, but nowadays I tend to code it in there anyway.

PS: I ran into a funny problem with a site once... only one link (of tons) wasn’t working. I finally figured out that there was an old unused folder on the system that matched an alias, and that borked it! I now know enough to look for that.

          Cheers, Dave
