    Hello,

Firstly I’d like to apologise for what I assume must be the billionth post requesting set-up help. I’ve looked over a couple of videos covering how Modx works, and it appears to be exactly the kind of CMS I’ve been looking for; but this is my first time using this kind of tool, so I’m more than bemused by the set-up procedure.

I’ve downloaded the latest version of Modx Revolution, the newest version of Xampp (running on Windows XP) and tried desperately to make the thing work with little success.

I placed the extracted Modx files in C:\xampp\htdocs\modxSandbox but when I navigate to http://localhost/modxSandbox/ I get a 503 error in a red box - which I assume is sort of half-way there.

Having looked over several guides on the internet, many seem to be a little too ambiguous or assume that the user has a greater knowledge than I currently do as to where and how certain changes need to be made. Could anyone be so kind as to offer some idiot-proof instructions as to where to go from here? I reckon that once I’m set-up the rest will be relatively straight-forward, but this first step appears to be a bit of a hurdle.

If anyone’s suggestions involve trading Xampp for Wamp or any other software swaps, I’m more than happy to do so.

    Thanks in advance.

[UPDATE: You figured it out yourself]

I believe you didnt run the setup?

Point your browser to the htttp://localhost.modxSandbox/setup and see what happens.
