Been searching through the forums and elsewhere to work out the best way to configure product listings and one that a client could easily update.

And it does seem surprising for what is such an elementary CMS function that there is no real (supported) solution - please correct if I’m wrong!

So far I’ve come across gCart , Treasure Chest although these are in effect ecommerce modules - I spent a fair bit of time yesterday attempting to configure http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Howto_catalogue#The_product_chunk but have to admit to only sort of getting about 75% of the way there with it - and again looking at the thread that too is no longer supported.

    So what do people use??

If all you want is a catalog of product listings, you can do it in several ways.

You can use resources for each product, and Ditto.

You can use Jot, which will allow editing/adding products from the front-end. I’ve extended Jot with categories, which might be even better for your purposes.

Ok thanks smiley I’ll get straight on to it as I’ve been getting no where fast with eform / fdm

        Will let you know

Further Edit - few hours later !!

Aaaahhh this is what I sort of was alluding to earlier, that there is stuff out there, but not that user friendly - I have installed the snippet and have some sort of basic "thing" going on http://www.gavinbaylis.com/notes.html but being more of a designer etc I’m at a cul de sac and I need some basic documentation / examples as to what it is I can produce.

Any chance of a few pointers example code to get me running?
