Upgrading modx Revolution

Hi,

this may be a stupid question, but how exactly do I upgrade from a prior beta of Revo to the actual RC? Do I need to ftp ALL the folders of the recently downloaded new version over to my http root or just the setup folder? Are there any config/setting files that must be copied over after the upgrade is complete? How about a database backup? I’ll surely do one, but is there anything to keep an eye on? And what else needs my attention?

Just either:

1. Unzip the zip and upload all the files over the existing ones.
2. Upload the zip and unzip it over the existing files. (Make sure this is a merge unzip, so that it doesnt erase core/config/config.inc.php

And always do a DB backup - you should always backup the DB upgrading any web application, even if they tell you not to.

I’ve tried method No.1 - but the upgrade option radio buttons are disabled when I start the setup process. Any ideas?

I’ve backed up everything (files and DB), so that’s not going to kill me ;-)

Sounds like the core/config/config.inc.php file got erased (not sure how you did that). Just copy it over from your backup and upgrade should be re-enabled.
