Compress and concat Js

I noticed these 2 settings in my system settings on MODx Revolution 2.0.0-rc-1 rev6589. They where set to no so I thought I would try setting them to yes and see if there was any noticable speed increase upon doing this and clearing my cache etc i found that I no longer could Resource, elements or files tree and none of the menus worked.

Are these working settings at the moment or still to be fully implemented. The only way I could get back use of the manager was editing the DB manually and setting them both back to 0.

Enviroment :

PHP 5.2.8
MySQL 5.0.89-community-log
CentOS running Apache/2.2.11

They do work; however, they wont work in SVN unless you run with Ant the _build/build.local.xml (after copying build.sample.properties file to build.properties and configuring it).

The reason it doesn’t work in SVN is because in our releases (such as RC1), the build files compress and concat the CSS/JS and then pack them in. However, there’s no practical way to do that for SVN deployments.

So, if you’d like to use css/js compression with SVN, you’ll have to use Ant to run the build.local.xml every time you update SVN. This will compress and concat the CSS/JS. Or you can use RC1 when it comes out soon.

Thanks for the reply I’m not in a rush to use it. It was a matter of I saw it and thought oh that looks good lets see how much difference does it make. I can wait till RC1 to try it out.

Are you installing from SVN? If so, compression doesn’t work by default from it - you have to run the _build/build.local.xml with Ant to do it. Compression comes On by default in the RC-2 release.

MODx caches the system settings - just clear the core/cache/config.cache.php file and you should be fine.
