When will the Revo RC1 be out?

I’ve made half a dozen sites in Evo and can’t wait to switch over to Revo. How long will I have to wait for a version I can use for production?

I use the current svn version for production on low lvl sites currently running 5 sites using revo.

But beyond that I guess the dev replies will be when it’s ready.

That’s exactly right. You can use the Jira link at the top of this page to explore some of the outstanding issues. Most are either trivial, cosmetic, or related to specific browsers, but they all take time.

Also, it’s worth it to note that there are some tasks that will need to be done prior to RC1 that aren’t on the JIRA list. Some are:

• Thoroughly testing different setup environments (we’ve done a lot of this, but we still have a few scenarios left to test
• Cleaning up the Revolution documentation and filling in missing gaps to prepare for the influx of new users and any questions they might have
• Testing and packaging working CKEditor/TinyMCE Extras
• Finishing a viable search component for Revo (needed for the Sample Site)
• Compiling and testing all existing major Extras for Revo and validating that they work
• Preparing marketing efforts for the RC1 release
• etc.

Also, IE will probably be an issue we push to RC2. If anyone has IE expertise and would like to help, please feel free to say so, provide patches, etc.

I see on Jira that the search component/sample site is the only outstanding task. Am i missing something. Should some other components be ready before we can expect a formal RC1 release? pardon the impatience/eagerness.

Most other components are ready, however, we are not going to limit the core RC1 release to external components.

Are the modx team considering ie6 deprecated?

Most definitely we are. However, MODx does not limit your front-end designs to any browser. The backend manager, however, will not support IE6. (And will most likely have a few issues with IE7/8, as those have been pushed to RC2).

Great. Now that there are no unresolved issues/bugs, I am holding my breath for a formal release of RC1 that I can get a team working on for my site.
