Hello,
I am trying to use the friendly urls - following are what I have done reading the guidelines
- the following parts are changed in the .htaccess
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /modxcmstest
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /modxcmstest/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
modxcmstest is the directory which modx installed
System settings
- Automatically generate alias ---> NO
- Use Friendly Alias Path --> YES
- Use Friendly Aliases --> YES
- Use Friendly URLs --> NO
- <base href="[[!++site_url]]" /> added to template head section
- an alias is given to the page
I still get the urls in index.php?id=49 fashion when I preview a page
Anybody has any idea what could be the problem?
Thank you
Have you cleared your site and browser cache?
Is mod_rewrite enabled on your server?
I have done the Site--> Clear Cache. I haven’t cleared the browser cache but I have tested the page in another browser now, but no difference.
The server is a shared hostgator hosting and mod_rewrite is enabled. I have WP sites which uses friendly urls without any problem
more info, in case might be helpful
modx Revolution version 2
PHP Version 5.2.14

thanks very much guys, it now works.
I am sure, I have tried that option before, but I think the problems was that I checked the page preview menu from a not refreshed manager page.
btw, in the friendly url reference page, http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Using+Friendly+URLs, "use Friendly URLs" is selected as NO in the image, that was the part of confusion. It would be good to correct that for future modx users, if that is a mistake, which looks like in my case.
I’m glad you got it working. Thanks for reporting back and especially for providing a link to the problem doc page. I tried to look at the reference page, but rtfm.modx.com seems to be down.
