Hi, I’m very new to Modx,
I appreciate if some one can guide me, I would like to display news at my site vertically (let us say in the right column).
And I’m planning to store each news article in a separate document inside a container (I will name the container "news").
from what I have read till now I feel I will be able to pull the description of each news document, and list it on the its place holder (e.g. right column), and I think I would be able to give the readers to view the full articles.
However my problem is that, I have only six vertical lines, in which I can put the description of the most recent six articles, while I would like to display more than six articles.. I don’t want to increase the vertical lines, so I thought I might be able to pull, let us say, the 10 recent articles and roll it in the six line, changing it every 30 seconds.
I would like you to advise me what to do? how to roll the 10 recent articles over six lines? any available modules?
BTW, Since I new I’m using Modx revo latest release.
Thanks in advance,
Sidahmed
Also note please, I’m not a web-developer, but I can learn if guided.
Hi, Every one.
I’m glad that I found Modx. The land of endless possibilities.
Before I was struggling with Joomla, Drupal, and Typo3, it never fits me as a non native developer.
As many other (I think) we only know basics of web technologies, we are only willing/can spend time to use/advance in the directions of what we already knew. This is what I like about modx, you always feel the solution is very close and touchable to you. However the most important thing IMHO is that you progress gradually, you never have to wait days and weeks to reach sky. No matter how less time you spent, you progress forward.
Here is what I have done:
<div class="news-unit">
<h1>News Headlines</h1>
<h2><marquee behavior="scroll" direction="up">[[Wayfinder? &startId=`5` &level=`1`]]</marquee></h2>
</div>
I never thought the solution could be very simple like this, I thought I need to do some Java-scripting.
’5’ points to my news containers (the ID of the container), ’1’ means the first level of documents under the container.
