White screen page after install of modx Revolution - Dreamhost

Hello

This is my first attempt at using modx.

So I was trying to install modx Revolution on Dreamhost, I created the db and made sure to make the necessary php.ini tweaks, everything on the install checklist is green. Everything should be set but for some reason it’s still not working.

The only visible difference to a standard install is that I am not installing to the root folder but to a subfolder called modx

It is creating the db ok, all the tables are there in phpMyAdmin. If I go to the manager page after the install I can see the login box but images are missing and the button has no words and does not work when clicked.

Any ideas?

I’m willing to bet that it’s a file/dir permissions issue.

Also, the standard:
- PHP version
- MySQL client and server version
- pdo_mysql installed?
- Apache version

I’m also having no luck, I was able to install and use beta 4 and below but beta 5 and RC1 will not install on my Dreamhost account. It just goes to a "page not found" error part way through the install process. I have tried everything in the fresh installation page, and checked the versions of everything I understand and know how to check. Any help would be greatly appreciated. - Jeff

Can you at least give us:

1. PHP version
2. MySQL client and server version
3. pdo_mysql installed?

We wont be able to help you without at least those.

The PhP version is 5.2.6
The MySQL client version is 5.0.16
The MySQL server version is 5.0.67-userstats-log

and from what I have read Dreamhost has pdo_mysql installed, I don’t know how to test for this myself though.

When you say it errors, can you describe exactly what happens?

You say it goes to a page not found error...is this a blank screen? or does an error message appear?

Also, can you check to see if there are any install error logs? They’d be in core/cache/logs/install-[timestamp].log (where timestamp is the time installed)

Ok here is the process I have gone through:
1) upload zip of revo and unzip
2) go to root URL I get a 503 Error Site temporarily unavailable.
3) go to url/setup/ and select "en"
4) left MODx configuration key alone clicked "next"
5) Selected "New Installation" and left the Advanced Options alone
6) Input my database information and admin username and clicked "next"
7) Modx informs me that all Pre-installation tests were successful so I click "Install"
8) My browser stays on the same page for a long time as it informs me of activity then I get a blank page that says:

"Internal Server Error, The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log.Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

Some times it just gives me a blank page with "Page not found" on it

Sorry for my ignorance in all this, I had no problem with beta 4 and earlier, but since beta 5 I can’t get it installed anywhere.

It looks like your core/packages directory is not writable.

core/packages is set to 755 (rwxr-xr-x) is this incorrect?

Try 775; your PHP user might not be the owner.
