I am running into a situation where (it seems) a small handful of images are getting deleted for what I’m told no reason.
The files getting deleted are usually the same ones.

The folder where the files are getting deleted: /assets/img/*.jpg
I never have a problem with images located in: /assets/images/*

I look through the reports within the manager:
    /site-root/assets/img/*.jpg Deleted File

Is there any way a file could be deleted? Obviously the manager is recording this so it makes sense to me that the user is selecting and deleting the image(s).

This has been going on for a while, I’ve never had this problem before with any other site. For now I’m going to place the images in some random folder. If the images still get deleted I’ll know that the user is deliberately deleting files.

I’m just kind of puzzled... Thank you for your time.

    [*Edit*]
I believe I have figured out what I am looking for.

I had noticed that before every "Deleted file" message, there was a "Using file manager" message(s) I tried to duplicate the log files on my localhost - I found that each instance of "Using file manager" is recorded each time there is a click within the file manager.

I removed file manager access, and just as a complete fall back, I created a new account for the user. I have not had a problem since. Although the official reason for the images getting deleted remains unknown. wink

          Thanks for your explanation.

One of my mac clients (Evo1.02, MacOS10.4.11, Firefox3.0.6) has a similar problem: images--sometimes one, sometimes all--suddenly and randomly disappear from assets/images. Checking via FTP reveals that the images are indeed gone. There’s no deletion record, however, in manager reports--only a "using" and "saving" record.

So far this has occurred only on a mac in FireFox. None of my other mac clients report the issue, and I can’t seem to repeat it on my windows machine. I went so far as to replace MCPuck with TinyBrowser, thinking that it was probably a MCPuck problem, but it appeared again recently. I’ve scoured the forum but no one has reported this problem until I saw your post here.

I’m thinking that it occurs on "save" and that it’s probably a mac and/or mac FF browser issue. Our client is running no FF extensions.

Our server environment is relatively up-to-date: dedicated centos 5.5, php5.2.13, mysql server5.0.91, mysql client4.1.22, GD support, etc.
