Wayfinder Subnav Not working.

    UURRGG, this way finder is so difficult. I’m building a site with a standard Horizontal nav and a subnav and the subnavs are appearing and dissapearing.
    I’m using MODX Revolution 2.1.1-pl

    This is the nave structure, showing ABOUT as the active nav.
    Home - [About] - Products - Services - Contact
    link - link - link - link - link

    This is the code Im using:
    [[!Wayfinder? &startId=`0` &level=`1`]]
    SUBNAV
    [[!Wayfinder? &startId=`2`]]

    All the links show up ok but when I click on a sublink they disappear...

    Please help!

      I don’t know if I quite understand or not so I apologize if my comment is way off.

      I think you should only have 1 wayfinder call. Typically I create a chunk called "header" or something and put my nav in there.

      I think you will want to leave the "&level" parameter off. Depending on how you have your site set up, wayfinder will grab all of the documents listed within any given resource.

      So, if you have a resource called "About" and inside of "About" you have "page a" "page b" and "page c" wayfinder will grab all of those unless you tell it not to.

      I think your wayfinder call should look like this:
      [[!Wayfinder? &startId=`0`]]


      I don’t think you need your second wayfinder call at all. I’m not sure what it is doing.

      Depending if you want to use the default wayfinder templates (list) you might want to create your own. Here is what a typical wayfinder call looks like for me:
      &startId=`0`
&outerTpl=`main_outter_tpl`
&rowTpl=`main_row_tpl`
&innerTpl=`main_inner_tpl`
&innerRowTpl=`main_inner_row_tpl`


      the "main_outter_tpl" and other Tpl parameters are just chunks.

                The issue you talk about I cannot confirm:
                All the links show up ok but when I click on a sublink they disappear...
                Nothing disappears.
                Your problem is that on all pages you see the subnav for the About page in the sidebar. This is due to your second Wayfinder call 
                [[!Wayfinder? &startId=`2`]]
                where obviousy 2 is the id of the About page. Use the [tt]UltimateParent[/tt] snippet here:
                [[!Wayfinder? &startId=`[[UltimateParent? &topLevel=`1`]]`]]
                So you get always the correct subnav for each page.

                  Hey,

                  i´m not shure if this helps but as told before you shouldnt use 2 Wayfinder calls.

                  There are Two ways to hide the Submenus.

                  First one is with CSS for example give your Wrapper (if you have one) an ID - best would be the pagetitle or something that can be pulled from modx so you get explicit ID.
                  Then just hide the submenu class in your css for the IDs where you dont want to show your Submenu example wrapID-Home - css #home .submenu {display:none}

                  But the correct way is supported by Wayfinder itself and goes with the call

                  &hideSubMenus=`1`

                  This should only show the Submenu on the ACTIVE Link

                  I hope i could point you in the correct dirrection

                    This makes no sense:
                    Oh Boy, not sure what you mean I had it all working in EVO but now with REVO it broke...
                    - especially since there is no code/css to make it work (I peeked) in the Base Template.

                      The description was a little confusing but the OP is not talking about submenus within the same menu. There are actually two different menus - a main navigation menu, and a secondary ’sub’ navigation menu appearing in the sidebar.

                      In this case two Wayfinder calls are fine; you couldn’t realistically achieve this with one call.
