2.08 -> 2.10 install failure

    At the point at which the upgrade says that it’s finished, I click on the button and it says this:
    Fatal error: Call to undefined method modCacheManager::refresh() in /home/tuffcity/public_html/setup/includes/modinstall.class.php on line 458


    I’ve tried 2.08->2.10, and 2.08->2.11.
    I’ve emptied cache and logged out before install, of course.
    Really have no idea where to begin, honestly.
    any thoughts?

    This is on a stock XAMPP system, and also on a live system (vexxhost.com - Apache, Cpanel (nice up-to-date version). PHP 5.3, but honestly if it’s happening on two such disparate systems, then clearly I’m making some big error of some kind, but I can’t figure out what.

      What are the exact steps you took to update?

      I updated my website from 2.0.8 to 2.1.1 yesterday and that worked fine.

      Are you uploading *all* files in the download?

        that’s an interesting question... come to think of it, I’m not positive. I’ve been moving a lot of MODx revo sites lately, so I have become really accustomed to just uploading ’setup’.

        I’ll give it another shot.

          Sorry for wasting time with this. I guess that maybe if somone else makes the same mistake, then this post will help them.

          Just as an aside, the way I usually upgrade is to just overwrite (merge) all the distribution folders, and then run setup. I wonder if that is the recommended way? It occured to me as I was doing this today that maybe starting with a clean slate would be better? Adding my packages, components, and templates folders only?

          What would be your advice on this?

            The only downside of overwriting is that possibly some old files remain.

            Upside is that everything is still installed, and as there usually aren’t any issues updating I wonder why to spend an extra half an hour updating it when it can be done in a few minutes..
