    Being unfamiliar with the tag syntax, I’m finding it confusing and cluttered. I’d like to simplify the syntax by removing and replacing some characters.

    For example, I’d like to replace this:
    [[$chunk_name? &property_name=`property_value`]]

    With this:
    {$chunk_name property_name="property_value"}

    Has anyone released a modified parser and is such a thing possible with Revo?

      You’re not doind it right.

      Like you said, you’re just not familiar with the tag syntax. You should try to keep it like it supposed to work.
      It’s better if you need help on the forum, if you need to use the documentation, if you want to use 3rd party components, if someone has to work after you on this website...

      Simplicity is not always the best answer. In this case, what seems to be more simpler will only guide you to an unknown highway to hell.

      That being said, it might be possible to do so with Revo.

        Actually, the tag syntax is simpler in Revo than in Evo, IMO. In revolution, *all* tags begin with [[ and end with ]], no matter what they’re for. So all you have to remember is the correct tokens.

        In Revo, you can also make any tag uncached by using [[! at the beginning of the tag.

        There’s a summary of the Revo tags here: http://bobsguides.com/revolution-tags.html

        You’re welcome to rewrite the parser but it would not be a trivial task. You could also keep using Evolution if you like those tags better.
